Before the season started, Anderlecht coach John Van den Brom said the first 30 games in the JPL (pre-playoffs) were not important. He’s not taking his own advice as the champions beat Charleroi 5-2, with a Matias Suarez hat-trick, to make it four wins from four. Over in Liege, Standard are flying with maximum points from five games. If it’s possible to have a two-horse-race for the championship in August, then the JPL is for you. Meanwhile, across the Channel in the BPL, Simon Mignolet is Liverpool’s new clean sheet hero – a performance equalled by Atletico’s Thibaut Courtois in Madrid.

JPL Top six: Standard 15 points, Anderlecht 12, Club Brugge 11, Zulte Waregem 11, Lokeren 10, Racing Genk 9.

JPL Leading scorers: Bruno (Anderlecht) & Santini (Kortrijk) 5; Mujangi Bia (Standard) & M. Suarez (Anderlecht) 4.
